Ask, discuss, share
Our email discussion forums
If you want to ask a question about the course, take part in an online discussion, or share some information with other Twenty First Century Science colleagues, why not use one of our email discussion forums? We have two! One is aimed at teachers, the other at technicians. Whatever your involvement with Twenty First Century Science, you are welcome to sign up to either or both of these lists.
How do I sign up?
Just click the relevant 'subscribe' link in the column on the right. We will reply and ask a couple of questions before subscribing you. If you have any problems, just email webmaster.scienceatoxford@oup.com.
What can I use the forums for?
The email forums enable you to communicate with people from other schools who have common concerns and interests. You can ask questions or answer them, and make suggestions and observations connected with teaching any of the Twenty First Century Science courses.
Who else is subscribed?
Subscribers already include several hundred teachers and technicians in Twenty First Century Science schools, as well as members of the Project Team at the University of York and Nuffield Curriculum Centre and the course teams at Oxford University Press and OCR. If you have a problem with some aspect of the course, you are therefore very likely to find out the answer or receive suggestions about where you might get help by posting a message to one of the lists!
How do I send a message?
To send your message, simply send an email to one of the following addresses:
TEACHER-C21SCIENCE-L@WEBBER.UK.OUP.COM
TECHNICIAN-C21SCIENCE-L@WEBBER.UK.OUP.COM
Although users can send messages using HTML formatting, for security reasons this will be stripped out and the resulting email distributed will be in Plain Text. If you wish to use simple text formatting such as choosing the font type and/or size, bold, italic, etc., we suggest that you use Rich Text Format as your message type.
Similarly, if attachments are sent to the lists, for security reaons they will also be discarded, although the main message text will be processed and distributed as usual.
You can also send a message using a web interface – see 'Web access and the archives' below.
Moderation
The forums are no longer moderated. Therefore, do check your message carefully before you click 'send', because once you do, all list members will receive your message within minutes!
Web access and the archives
All messages are archived, so you can look back through previous discussion threads. To access the archives on the web, just click on one of the 'archive' links in the column on the right of this page.
There are also options on the main archive web page to search the archives, post to the list, and join or leave the list (or change settings):
Search the archives: Several options are available – click the question marks next to each to find out more.
Post to the list: You can send a message using the web interface rather than your email program.
Join or leave the list: You can unsubscribe here (or using one of the 'unsubscribe' links in the column on the right of this page) and change some of the settings on your account. For instance, you might want to choose the ‘digest’ setting to receive one weekly message that contains all messages sent that week rather than each individual message as it is sent. Click the question marks next to each option to find out more.
Finally, clicking on 'Subscriber's Corner' (upper left corner) takes you to a page where a table shows any email list(s) to which you subscribe and 'Help' gives more information about LISTSERV.
We hope that you find the forums useful.
Please send any feedback to webmaster.scienceatoxford@oup.com.
